How did you get started in photography?

I started taking photography classes in college and used my grandfather's Nikon SLR camera that he bought in Hong Kong in the 1960's as my first piece of equipment (which I still own). During college, I quickly made a hobby of taking pictures. After I graduated, I received my first DSLR camera from my parents. I started taking pictures of my family members and that lead to other people asking for photos. Thus, a business was born!

What should I/we wear to a shoot?

It's always a good idea to wear simple clothing without distracting patterns or logos. If you are dressing for a group photo, it's best to color coordinate. Including extra layers and textures, such as hats, scarves, or jewelry is a good way to represent yourself. Always bring two outfits, if time permits to use both during the shoot. I will always email you ideas if you need help with coordination. If you're a high school senior, make sure you wear accessories and clothing that reflect who you are. Also, please come with hair and make up already done, since I currently don't have a stylist on site at sessions.

What is expected during a shoot?

Photo shoots are meant to be fun and the time for you to shine and show off who you are. I will do my best to prepare you for the shoot and to make you feel as comfortable as possible.

What do I/we need to bring?

If your photo shoot is with a family, make sure you bring an extra change of clothes for young children and a favorite toy or stuffed animal. Please make sure they have been fed and have had a nap beforehand. This will make for a more pleasant and comfortable experience. Bring any special prop you would like to use during the shoot such as a favorite blanket to sit on, etc.

How do we book you for a session?

You may email me at erinbancroftphoto@gmail.com or click on the "Contact" tab to send me an email. Let me know which type of session you would like to book and when. If you are inquiring about a wedding photo shoot, please send me the wedding date, venue, and location, and any other important information. If the date is agreeable, I can send you a wedding contract with more information. A wedding date is not secured until both parties have signed the contract and a 30% retainer fee/deposit is received.

Where will the photo shoot take place?

I do not currently have a studio, so all photo shoots take place at a location of agreement between both parties. Any shoot within 45 minutes of my location is considered local. For shoots that are farther away, please contact me to arrange a location. Travel beyond a 45 minute radius will be an additional fee.

When will I receive my photos?

Approximately 4 weeks after your session (weddings are usually 2-3 months depending on the time of year), you will have access to an online gallery where you may view pictures, download, and purchase prints (if a wedding, then pictures will be delivered on a custom USB). Pictures will be professionally edited, color corrected (if needed), with some pictures in black and white, and all are high resolution. I will post a sneak peak of your session on my Facebook page within a week of your shoot. Your session will also be featured on my blog and have it posted to Facebook. You will receive a photography/print release for all of the photos you receive. This allows you the right to have all the pictures from the day of the shoot to make prints from anywhere. However, when posting to social media sites, the photography business name must be included.

What happens if it rains?

No worries! Weather changes all the time. I constantly keep an eye on weather conditions leading up to a session. If it looks like it will be wet for the session, I will contact you either by email or phone an hour before your session to let you know that we can reschedule at no additional cost.
