Kassi and Dalton’s wedding at The Press Room in Knoxville, TN was one of the best weddings I shot this year! In addition to this couple being really laid back the whole wedding day, they endured the freezing temperatures as well with gusto!
One of my favorite moments during an engagement session or wedding is when I witness my couple laughing together. I don’t mean when they’re laughing because I told them to for their photos. I mean that real, authentic, joyful laugh between two people in love, and they don’t realize that I am there with my camera.
That’s the way I would describe the love between Kassi and Dalton. I knew right off when I talked to them via Zoom about their plans for their wedding, that photographing their special day was going to be so much fun! They are a very laid back couple, and they enjoy spending time together, no matter what they’re doing. I loved learning that Kassi teaches special education and that she and Dalton are fur parents to two really adorable cats. Their engagement session this past fall at the Knoxville Botanical Gardens was so much fun to shoot! Needless to say, their wedding was even more special and memorable! They both were excited to get married to each other!
If you live in the south and were following the weather on March 12th, you may have noticed that it snowed! I actually ended up wearing my UGG’s with my jumpsuit haha. The weather was very unexpected and made for some very cold photos, but it didn’t dampen the festivities! The Press Room in Knoxville is such a great industrial space for large events and weddings. Their bridal suite is just gorgeous with lots of natural light coming in through the windows. The venue even has a fun sitting area above the ground floor where the guys can relax before the ceremony.
We started the day by capturing some getting ready moments of Kassi, her mom, and her bridesmaids at the venue. Once Dalton was ready, we shot their first look behind the venue on their loading dock. Amazingly, It was a really nice spot for just the two of them. They even had a quiet moment without us while they read some vows to each other before the ceremony. What a sweet way for them to start this journey together!
Kassi and Dalton met on Tinder and they hit it off immediately after their first date. Some of their favorite trips together have been to the Biltmore and Dollywood. They also enjoy trying new restaurants on the weekends. Since it was really cold that day (it didn’t get above 32 degrees, brrr!), we tried to keep all of the photos inside as much as we could. While my second shooter was taking photos of Dalton and the groomsmen, I got some fun photos of the ladies getting dressed. We did take everyone outside for all of the bridal photos while we still had gorgeous light and shot as fast as we could so we could warm up inside!
As the processional started and Kassi’s dad Matthew walked her down the aisle, the look on her face is something that I’ll always remember about this wedding. She was so excited and full of joy to finally be marrying her best friend! After the ceremony and family formals, everyone enjoyed cocktail hour while we shot just couples portraits of Kassi and Dalton. I smiled the entire time I was editing these from the day because it made me so happy. To see them looking at each other with such warmth and affection made my heart melt.
After a welcome, toast and prayer from Kassi’s dad and stepdad, the guests enjoyed dinner. The maid of honor and best man gave their toasts, and Kassi and Dalton cut their cake. They had their first dance together, with Kassi dancing with her dad as well. After that, it was time for the real partying to start! Even though the weather was still freezing outside, the reception was on fire! I love how many of Kassi and Dalton’s guests got out on the dance floor. For the exit, we captured their guests holding up sparklers and cheering as they went down the middle. They finished off their exit with a big kiss and a dip!
I absolutely loved capturing this wedding, and I can’t wait to visit this venue again to photograph the next couple! Congratulations, Kassi and Dalton!
