We had so much fun at Moriah and Brien’s winter engagement session in Chattanooga! One location that I’ve been wanting to shoot at for a while is Chestnut Street Trailhead. It’s an area off the Riverwalk downtown where you have a great view of Lookout Mountain in the background. Other photographers have photographed here before, and I was eager to use this location for Moriah and Brien’s engagement session!
During this past Labor Day weekend, Moriah and Brien met at church when Brien was in town visiting family. They talked for a while, but didn’t have their first date until Brien called her and asked her out for coffee. Moriah and Brien have talked every day since and they both realized that they were drawn to each other’s commitment to God, marriage, and how to raise a family. Moriah is a full time nanny and Brien lives and works in Nashville building websites.
They both enjoy going for walks, having coffee dates, and spending time with family and friends. Moriah enjoys knitting and reading in her spare time and Brien competes in triathlons. Because they live apart right now, they will spend weekends with an all-day trip around Chattanooga hiking, trying out hip restaurants, and attending the symphony. Brien and Moriah both love to travel and are excited to cross some places off their bucket list after they’re married.
The day started off sunny, but soon became overcast as we got ready for their winter engagement session. However, there was only one other photographer that came to shoot in the location, so we had the entire area to ourselves. I absolutely loved seeing Lookout Mountain in the background of their photos! I definitely got creative for some of their pictures since most of the tall grass was gone during winter. But the weather was more mild so we all weren’t freezing the whole time!
Some couples may not opt for an engagement session because they live out of town or have already had pictures taken. There are a lot of good reasons to book your engagement session with your wedding photographer! (To read my entire blog post on this topic, click here!) However, my favorite reason is the session helps you get comfortable in front of the camera. Learning how to pose with your fiancĂ© from your photographer will help you prepare for your wedding day. You’ll know exactly what to do and portraits will be so easy!
I loved getting to know more about Moriah and Brien at their winter engagement session in Chattanooga. I’m so excited for their wedding day in March on Lookout Mountain! If you’re getting married this year, I would love to schedule a time to talk about all your wedding plans!
