Fiona’s Senior Session at the Sculpture Fields

Nothing is more magical than capturing portraits for a high school senior during the summer! I absolutely honored to document this special time for Fiona with her senior session at the Sculpture Fields in downtown Chattanooga. Fiona wanted to make the most of her time in front of the camera, so she booked two hours with me. This allowed us to use different angles and poses and visit various locations around the city.

Fiona is a senior at the STEM School in Chattanooga. She is very adventurous and loves to participate in outdoor activities and sports. She is a member of the track and field team where she is a pole vaulter and hurdler. She also enjoys rock climbing. Even though she is athletic she loves to wear floral dresses because they are fun and summery. Fiona loves watching reruns of The Office and spending time with her friends either at school or at events.

Choosing What to Wear

I give my seniors the opportunity to schedule a Zoom meeting so we can discuss details and I can see my seniors face to face. Fiona told me she loved to wear dresses and loved having her pictures taken. During our meeting two weeks before her session, we decided on a few dresses to bring for her photoshoot. I always tell my clients to bring more outfits than they think they need just in case they want to change their ideas during their session.

In addition to helping my clients choose what to wear, I also search for specific items. Fiona wanted a cute top, so I searched the internet and sent her some outfit ideas. This is something that I love to do for my clients when I know they will feel more confident in front of the camera with what they’re wearing. In addition to wearing a couple of dresses, I made sure that Fiona also brought some jeans for a more casual look.

Nature and City Photo Locations

When I asked her about which locations she preferred, she loved the look of a downtown city but also nature and the outdoors. We traveled to several locations like this and Fiona ended up getting a large variety of pictures in her final gallery. The first area we went to was the Sculpture Fields near downtown Chattanooga. I have shot several family and senior sessions here and I love how quiet and versatile it is. There are trails, trees, and a field with Lookout Mountain in the background. We had amazing light all throughout her session!

After we finished at the fields, our next stop was at the courthouse downtown. This was my first time shooting here and I loved that we had stairs and straight lines to work with from the building. As the sun started to set more, we headed to my favorite parking lot for our last location. I love how the light disappears behind the skyline and the mountain. For her final outfit, Fiona chose a one-shoulder pink floral mini dress and beige strappy heels.

Her college plans include attending UAB in the Fall of 2025 to continue her academic and athletic journey. I loved shooting her senior session at the Sculpture Fields and other locations around downtown Chattanooga. Thank you for trusting me to capture this special time in your life!
