Why You Need a Senior Portrait Session

Think back to your senior year of high school. You were counting down the days to prom, graduation, and looking forward to finally being on your own next year as a freshman in college. No more of mom and dad watching you every minute and you could have finally have some freedom! Walking across the stage to accept your diploma is a big deal because you pushed yourself to make the grades so you could say, “Yes, I did it!”

In addition to all the exciting things during your senior year, one of the things you must cross off your list is your senior portraits! This may not seem like an important event, but this is a huge milestone in your life.

Here are some reasons why you need a senior portrait session!



1. Your life is about to change big time!

Once you go off to college, all sorts of things will happen. You might join a fraternity or sorority, make fast friends, decide to study abroad, and then your schedule gets super busy without you realizing it! Trust me, it will happen! You are not going to be home very often, especially if you move across the country and can only come home via a plane ride. So capturing those last moments of high school is a big deal!

2. This will be your last formal portrait until your wedding!

You are probably not even thinking about getting married anytime soon. However, the person you become later on versus the person you are when you graduate from high school are going to be different people. I am not the same person at age 30 that I was at 18. Having your senior portraits done at this time in your life is something you can’t replace and I didn’t have another professional portrait taken of me until I got married.

3. They make great gifts for your family!

Your family would love to have prints from your session in their house, especially your parents and grandparents! I know that my brother’s seniors portraits are still framed in my parents’ house. Your family will love looking at your photos especially if you also have an album made of your photos. Your parents have fond memories of you as a child, so they want to freeze that last year of high school.

4. Show yourself off!

This senior session is all about you! It is the time to show off your personality, who you are, and have fun! During your session, I play your favorite music to make you feel at ease. I help plan your outfits beforehand, send you information about how to prep for your session, and answer any questions you may have. I make sure that the focus is entirely on you! This is your time to celebrate all of your accomplishments.
