I know in my past blogs and if you follow me on Instagram, I have talked some about being a teacher. I have been around teachers my whole life and I eventually went into teaching, getting my master’s degree in Middle Grades Education in 2013. I have met so many students along the way and I still miss them and think of them as my kids. Trust me, it’s a teacher thing. You watch them grow up so fast and before you know it, they are graduating high school.
This is particularly true for one student I have known since he was in kindergarten. I started teaching when my job at the time didn’t work out and I was forced to change careers. Nik was one of my first students and I have watched him grow and mature into such a handsome young man. Sure makes me feel old though!
As a photographer, I love finding new places to shoot! One area I’ve never been to is the Ringgold Nature Trail. It’s a nice walking area with a big field and a nice line of trees to filter the sun. If I ever have to shoot earlier in the evening, I always scout out a spot at the first location where I can block out the sun and have some nice back lighting.
We started in the field and then walked long the path eventually ending at a creek. Before we left that area to drive to another location, I found a big rock for some nice sitting down photos of him. They ended up being some of my favorites from this session.
Then we headed over to the high school to get some photos in his cap and gown on campus. We were able to also take some photos over on the football field, although it took us a while to figure out how to get in!
I am so proud of my former student and I am looking forward to watching all the great things he will do in his future!
Congratulations Nik, Ringgold High School, Class of 2020!
