Summer Farm Session | Maternity | Chattanooga Family Photograper

Before I got married, I wasn’t thinking about what it would be like to have kids. I was concentrating on completing my master’s degree in education, working two jobs, and making sure I had enough money in the bank to take care of my monthly car payment. After my husband and I tied the knot, we knew we wanted to have children of our own. When we did finally get pregnant, we were so excited! Unfortunately, eight weeks later I had a miscarriage. We were devastated and it was a difficult time for us. But I kept trying to remind myself that God had a plan. And he did. We got pregnant again in a few months and we welcomed our baby boy the following year.

This is why photographing families and especially moms-to-be is so special to me. Whether they are mothers expecting their first child, expecting again, or having their rainbow baby like me, having a child is one of the most wonderful experiences you can have. When I found out that Melissa was expecting a baby boy and also her last baby, I wanted to create some beautiful images for her! Melissa is a teacher like me, as are most of the women in my immediate family, so it was even more special to schedule this session for her.

When you’re a photographer, you “chase the light” so to speak when shooting. So we started out with some images with the sun behind the trees, then moved on to the dirt path as the sun started to set and eventually I was able to complete her session in front of the lake. One of my goals was to get a shot with the reflection of the trees in the water. It ended up being one of my and her favorite images of the entire session! I even got a picture of the very friendly cat that followed us around and some gorgeous yellow wildflowers on our walk.

I love taking photos at new locations! A friend let me use her private farm for the session and there were so many wonderful spots! This was one of the most fun sessions I have had this year! I am looking forward to more of these in the future!
