I once read a quote from Albert Einstein that said, “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” Samantha’s college senior session at Lee University in Cleveland was such a fun celebration!
As someone who is a teacher, I have always tried to impart knowledge upon my students and get them excited about learning. After I met Samantha, I knew that she was going to be the same kind of teacher: ready and willing to help her students and be the best teacher she can possibly be. This world needs great teachers and she is definitely going to leave a lasting impression on any student that passes through her classroom. When I asked Samantha how she found me, she said she and her mom looked online for photographers in the area and liked my style the best!
Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to shoot. The architecture and the beautiful grounds always makes for such lovely photos. Whether it’s been for a prom or graduation session, there is always a special area of campus to take pictures.
Even though the skies were overcast, Samantha made it feel like the sun was shining the entire time! I got to meet her husband George and he filmed some behind the scenes video for me! We started shooting around the outside of the Science and Math building, one of my favorite places on campus. In addition to majoring in Elementary Education, Samantha also received two minors; one in Bible and the other in Discipleship Ministries. When you graduate with one of these degrees, they give you a special bible. We made sure to get a photo with her holding her bible and degree. We then moved on to some other spots for photos, but circled back around to make sure we shot confetti photos in front of the university seal.
During her time at Lee, Samantha was resident chaplain for three years and was a member of the international education fraternity, Kappa Delta Pi – just like me 🙂 She is planning on moving back to Virginia where she is from and teaching elementary school. I always ask my seniors to pass on some advice to upcoming seniors and Samantha said that you should study hard so that you can reach highest honors!
Right as the sun was setting, we grabbed some photos in front of the education building as well. People will tell you that I’m that photographer that will hug you at the end of your session because I love the relationships that are created with my clients. This is something I have really missed during the pandemic. So of course, I got two hugs from Samantha when we finished her photos!!
Congratulations, Samantha on all of your achievements! You will be such a wonderful teacher for your students!
