Joey’s senior session at the Sculpture Fields in Chattanooga was so special! Joey, his mom, and I had a great time walking around the area and capturing these images! It ended up being overcast and it sprinkled a bit, but the weather held out for us!
Before every senior photoshoot, I make sure to work with my clients ahead of time to plan out exactly what they want for their senior photos. For every senior session, I schedule a Zoom meeting so I can look over my client’s outfits and see what they are planning to wear, as well as offer suggestions. I chatted with Joey and his mom about the look he wanted for his senior photos. Joey loves to be comfortable in whatever he wears, so jeans and a t-shirt were definitely on his list of outfits.
As photographers, we always say that our friends don’t become our clients, but that our clients become our friends. For me, it was the latter for this session. I have actually known Joey’s mom Joanna since we were ten years old. We recently reconnected online, and I was so honored when she reached out to book me for Joey’s senior portraits.
I like to get to know my clients before their shoot, so I send a questionnaire to all of my seniors to learn their likes, interests, and plans for after high school. Not every senior has had their photos taken before, so I need to know if he or she is nervous or has ideas for types of photos. One important question I ask is their favorite music or band. I create a playlist on Spotify of the client’s favorite songs I play during the session. This helps my senior relax during the photoshoot. Joey loves heavy metal and hard rock. His favorite band is August Burns Red. One of the outfits he wore was a pair of jeans and a band shirt from when he went to their concert.
I’ve noticed that more of my senior clients are bringing their dogs to their sessions, and I am all for it! They say that the bond between a dog and their human is unlike any other. While I don’t have any pets at home because my son and husband have asthma, I love including furry friends at senior photoshoots. Joey loves his lab mix, Meyer. His dog was so sweet and we included him in as many pictures as possible. you could tell that Meyer really loves Joey and spending time with him.
Joey loves reading, listening to music, exploring museums, and playing video games. It’s no surprise that Barnes and Noble is his favorite place to shop, and I’d have to agree as well! I love walking around bookstores and discovering new stories. Joey is planning on studying accounting at Chattanooga State in the fall. Joey’s senior session at the Sculpture Fields in downtown Chattanooga was the perfect location for him and his dog Meyer!
My fall calendar is getting very busy, so if you’re looking at the Sculpture Fields for your senior photos, head to my contact page to book a session! Enjoy a few of my favorites from Joey’s senior session!
