I absolutely loved capturing this lifestyle branding session in Chattanooga with Ashley of Details and Flourishes! We had a beautiful day for her branding photos at a local studio downtown. Ashley was in need of new images for her stationary and design business, and we were excited to meet up for her branding session.
Ashley started her design business because of her passion for creating things that bring joy to others. Details and Flourishes is a stationery studio specializing in bespoke designs and paper goods for special events, big or small. She provides her clients with design services tailored to them and their special event, including but not limited to, invitations, announcements, personal stationery, and other event products. Ashley has a full service studio that takes care of designing, printing, calligraphy, assembly, and delivery of items. She believes it a unique experience to create something, sometimes really simple, and receive admiration for what she has made by hand.
All of this began for Ashley when she first learned calligraphy, and over time it has blossomed into something much bigger. Ever since she was a child, she did her best to make any small or big moment feel incredibly special. Ashley comes from a really large family that loves to shower each other with love and celebration for any milestone. When Ashley moved away for college, she learned how to celebrate from afar. She figured out that she could celebrate by mail if she couldn’t do it in person. It became the way for Ashley to connect and celebrate with her loved ones, and she knew that she wanted to share that with others.
What makes Details and Flourishes unique is that the designs that Ashley makes combined with the service that she provides for her wedding clients, is something that you can’t get anywhere else. Any designs and products that she makes are one of a kind. With Ashley’s designs, she makes any event cohesive and the experience she creates for her clients is as seamless as possible. She enjoys including the finer details, such as sneaking in small characteristics into the designs with important things that her clients share with her. What makes Ashley’s business different from everyone else is that she strongly believes in tailoring everything specifically to her wedding clients. She wants to leave her clients with a tangible memory for what they are celebrating or commemorating. Without her clients, there would just be a bunch of pretty designs, when there’s already a bunch of pretty designs out there, but without Ashley’s special touch.
As I was preparing for Ashley’s branding session, I wanted to make sure we used a bright studio so we would have plenty of natural light. Third Daughter Studio was such a beautiful location and it gave us so many options for a good variety of images. They have an white infinity wall which was set up next to the floor to celling windows. This spot inside the studio was great for Ashley’s headshots! I brought in some extra elements such as a white desk so I could capture Ashley working on her calligraphy and on her iPad.
Before her session, we had an online wardrobe consultation to plan her outfits and incorporate her brand colors. She chose some pretty outfits such as a light blue blazer, a cute white top and jeans, and a blue and white dress floral dress (which I also wanted for myself too!). In addition to helping her choose outfits, Ashley also received a timeline and shot list creation after we collaborated using ideas from Pinterest and looking at what other photographers have created at branding sessions, all based on the time we had booked for the studio.
We were able to capture a large variety of images for her portfolio as well as branding portraits to use on social media and her website. Ashley and I had a fun time creating this personal branding session for her in Chattanooga at Third Daughter Studio!
