A Fall Senior Session at Baylor School
A fall senior session at Baylor School in Chattanooga has been on my bucket list for a while now. This school has one of the most beautiful campuses in the area with it’s scenic views and classic architecture. I was really excited to capture Matt’s senior photos among all the pretty colors and areas among the grounds.
When I book a senior session, especially for a location that I haven’t been to before, I make it a priority to scope out the area. This is especially important for me as a photographer because I need to see where the light is coming from at a particular time of day. In the case that the day is overcast, I also need to figure out where I can place my subjects when the sun isn’t shining. Since I had not been to Baylor’s campus, I invested extra time to walk around before the session and find the best spots. I like to make sure that I combine nature with buildings, if I’m shooting in a location that has a lot of variety.
Matt was fortunate to come to Chattanooga for his last year of high school as a student at Baylor and a member of the wrestling team. He has committed to the wrestling team at Indiana University for next fall and plans to study business. Because he is only here for one year, the goal for his session was to have some fun and natural photos while capturing the scenic views of Chattanooga around campus. I couldn’t agree more! The views and landscape of our city are two of the reasons I enjoy living here so much.
One of the things I ask from all of my senior clients on their questionnaire is what they enjoy most about my work when they book a session. Matt’s mom Joelle said she loved my natural versus forced posing and that I capture real moments from my subject. I capture everything that is playful, artistic and unique to the individual in front of the camera.
Matt is one of the few boys I’ve met who actually likes to have their pictures taken because he likes to see himself in new surroundings. When Matt isn’t wrestling or studying, he enjoys fishing and golfing in his spare time. He is going to have a great time at Indiana University next year as a member of the wrestling team!
