I absolutely love shooting senior sessions! It is a fun time for you to truly show off your unique personalities and interests! This will be the last time for a while that you will have a professional photo session, so you gotta make the most of it while you can!
But you can’t have a fun senior session without bringing a few accessories with you! Here are 5 must have items to bring to your photo shoot!
I love to wear hats! They can look super cute with a flowy dress or a pair of jeans and a cute top. Whether it’s a floppy hat, a fedora, or a straw cowboy hat, bring something that speaks to you and who you are! There are so many cute things to do with hats at a session!
2. Find some cool shades! Sunglasses can be a fun accessory for your session because you can do several different poses in a short amount of time. You can wear them like you would normally do, prop them on your head, or hold the tips of the sides in your teeth. Bring a pair that would match all your outfits or a wild colorful pair for a fun photo! This is a great accessory for girls and guys.
3. Let’s use a jacket! I love when a senior brings a jacket to their session. There are some super cute poses you can do with your jacket such as wearing it while you hold it with both hands at the top around your face, slinging it over shoulder and looking back at me, or letting it drop halfway down your arms. Guys, bringing a jacket is always a must! Don’t leave it at home.
4. A fun colorful scarf makes for a really cute photo, especially in the fall and winter. Look through your scarves and bring several that match your outfits. I always say to bring a neutral color and then one that is more colorful or bold so you stand out! Textures and layers are always a good thing when you are getting photos done!
5. Bring some fun jewelry! A pair of big earrings is a perfect wardrobe ensemble to have at your session! When I am shooting from far back, I still want to be able to see what kind of earrings that you are wearing. Find a pair that matches your outfit and bring several different pairs for different outfit changes throughout the shoot.
Before you go running out to your favorite store to grab up all of these accessories for your senior session, I always tell my clients to look through their closet first to see what they have. If they definitely still want to bring something they don’t have, ask a friend if you can borrow it! Then if you still can’t find something, then you can go shopping and pick out what you want.
