I was really excited when I found out that my friend Lisa and her husband Darrin were expecting! She started looking for a maternity photographer on Facebook and I commented on her post about asking her to look over my work on my website. We talked back and forth and she ended up booking me for her session! Their winter maternity session was super cold but so much fun!
A little backstory about me and Lisa – she was my Chemistry class life saver! I decided in 2009 to go back to school for a master’s degree in education. Unfortunately, because I was switching careers, I had to take some entry level science classes and Chemistry was on one of them. Needless to say, science hasn’t really been my strong suit and studying for this class was a lot of work. Lisa was starting her journey to complete her doctor of medicine in dentistry. I never would have made a B in this class without her constant help!! She is just an all around wonderful person and such a sweet friend. We’ve kept in touch all this time, and I was excited to capture her maternity photos.
Now, you would never know from looking that these photos were taken in 35 degree weather! Yes, it was that cold! We had to take a few breaks to get warm in the car. After having to reschedule 2x due to the crazy amount of rain in Tennessee, we definitely wanted to get their photos finished before they moved.
I’m not gonna lie – after shooting in the cold for an hour, I drove home with the seat warmer on high the whole time, haha!
Thank you Lisa and Darrin! You both are going to be such great parents! If you are expecting soon, please visit my contact page so we can book a date for you!
